Part of I-83 in Pennsylvania shut down following vehicle crash

PENNSYLVANIA — Traffic is heavily backed up Wednesday morning following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in York County.

According to PennDOT, the wreck occurred just before 9 a.m. in the northbound lanes in Fairview Township. The crash happened just south of Exit 39 for the Pennsylvania Turnpike/I-76.

Video from the scene showed multiple vehicles piled up along the highway, with several lanes blocked. The closures led to extensive delays for drivers traveling through the area.

Officials have not said how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone was injured.

Authorities are continuing to investigate. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and expect significant delays.
