VIRGINIA — A vehicle fire on Interstate 81 northbound has caused significant delays in Montgomery County Thursday morning.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the incident occurred at the 127.8 mile marker and has resulted in a roughly 5-mile traffic backup.
The northbound left lane, right lane, and right shoulder are currently closed.
Traffic is being diverted at Exit 118 as crews respond to the scene.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and expect delays while the situation is being cleared.
