
TENNESSEE — One person was injured early Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 81 in Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the driver was traveling northbound in the left lane near mile marker 67 when the tractor-trailer moved into the right lane and struck a guardrail. The vehicle then crossed back into the left lane, hit a second guardrail, and overturned in the grassy median.
As a result of the crash, both northbound lanes of I-81 were blocked. Traffic was being diverted off the interstate at Exit 66, with backups reported for several miles. According to TDOT SmartWay, the crash was reported around 3:30 a.m.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and the driver was transported for treatment of injuries. The extent of the injuries was not immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
