PENNSYLVANIA— A portion of Interstate 80 westbound in Mercer County is closed Wednesday morning following a crash involving a tractor-trailer, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said the westbound lanes of I-80 are closed between the Ohio state line and Exit 4B, Route 18.760, serving Sharon and Hermitage. The closure is the result of a crash involving a tractor-trailer. No information on injuries was immediately available.

Officials said the roadway is expected to remain closed until the crash scene is cleared and the area is deemed safe for travel.

PennDOT is also reminding drivers of temporary speed reductions in effect due to ongoing conditions. Speeds are reduced to 45 miles per hour on Interstate 79 from Route 208 in Grove City to its northern terminus in Erie County. A 45-mile-per-hour speed limit is also in place on Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line in Mercer County to Exit 42 in Venango County.

Motorists are urged to use caution and allow extra travel time.
