OHIO — Police are asking motorists to avoid the area of U.S. Route 62 westbound at Interstate 77 following a multi-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning.

Canton Police said that as many as 10 vehicles may have been involved in the collisions.

The southbound ramp at the interchange was temporarily closed but had reopened by 8:23 a.m. Police remained on scene working to clear the roadway.

The crash occurred amid dense fog in the region. The National Weather Service issued an advisory at 6:08 a.m. for Stark County and other parts of northern Ohio, warning that visibility could drop below a quarter of a mile at times.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.

The incident remains under investigation.
