NORTH CAROLINA — A serious crash on Interstate 77 North in Iredell County has caused major traffic delays Tuesday afternoon, shutting down multiple lanes near Mooresville.

According to reports, the crash occurred just before Exit 35 for Brawley School Road. All lanes, including the express lane, were initially blocked as emergency crews responded to the scene and began an investigation.

By around 4:15 p.m., officials had reopened two lanes, but traffic remains heavily congested. Backups stretch more than 10 miles into Huntersville, creating significant delays for drivers during the afternoon rush hour.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. U.S. 115 and U.S. 21 were recommended as detours for those traveling through the Mooresville area.

Officials warned that delays were expected to continue into the evening as crews worked to fully clear the scene. No immediate information on injuries or the cause of the crash has been released.
