ILLINOIS — Southbound traffic on Interstate 57 was being diverted in southern Coles County Thursday morning following a crash involving semi-trucks that caught fire.

According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at milepost 185, about one mile north of the exit for U.S. Route 45 and Illinois Route 121. Authorities did not specify how many vehicles were involved but confirmed that injuries were reported.

State police said at least two semi-trucks were on fire, with burning vehicles blocking a lane of southbound traffic. As a result, southbound motorists were being diverted off Interstate 57 at Exit 192, which leads to Coles County Road 1000N.

Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes while emergency crews worked at the scene. No further details about the extent of injuries or the cause of the crash were immediately released.
