
FLORIDA — More than 20 students were taken to a hospital Friday morning after a carbon monoxide detector was activated at Cypress Junction Montessori School in Winter Haven, according to the Winter Haven Police Department.
Police said the incident occurred during the morning hours, prompting an immediate evacuation of the school as a precaution. Fire personnel responded to the scene and determined that the source of the carbon monoxide was located outside the school building.
As a result of the incident, a total of 22 students were transported to a local Winter Haven hospital for evaluation. Police said 11 students were taken by ambulance, while another 11 were transported by school bus. Authorities confirmed that all of the students were in stable condition.
The school notified all parents about the situation, police said. No additional details were released, and officials did not report any staff injuries.
