OHIO — More than 16,000 residents across the Miami Valley are without electricity Thursday morning after strong storms swept through the region overnight.
As of 10 a.m., AES Ohio reported outages affecting more than 10,000 of its customers, while Duke Energy and Ohio Edison reported additional widespread outages across multiple counties.
AES Ohio outages by county include:
- Montgomery County: 5,684
- Greene County: 1,705
- Preble County: 1,094
- Miami County: 353
- Clinton County: 470
- Shelby County: 445
- Other counties such as Butler, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Auglaize, Logan, and Warren reported smaller numbers of outages.
Duke Energy reported over 3,200 outages in the region, with the highest concentration in Butler County (1,956) and Warren County (1,217). Smaller outages were noted in Montgomery and Preble counties.
Ohio Edison reported that 2,677 customers in Clark County and 98 in Greene County were without power.
Utility companies are working to assess the damage and restore service.
No estimated restoration times have been provided as crews continue responding to downed lines and debris caused by the storms. Residents are urged to avoid downed power lines and report any hazards to their utility providers.
