OHIO — An Austintown woman was hospitalized early Monday morning after her vehicle crashed into the back of a snowplow in Jackson Township.
The crash occurred around 1 a.m. on Interstate 76 East near the Interstate 80 interchange, according to authorities. Troopers said the woman’s vehicle struck the rear of a plow truck that was actively salting the roadway.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials said she is expected to be OK. The driver of the snowplow was not injured in the crash.
Authorities noted that incidents involving snow removal crews have been frequent this winter. At least 54 plow crews have been struck on roadways so far this season, including this latest crash.
Drivers are reminded to use caution around snowplows and allow extra space, especially during overnight hours when road crews are working to treat winter conditions.
