NORTH CAROLINA — A suspect was hospitalized after being shot while trying to break into a home early Friday morning, according to the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 5:15 a.m. to a report of a possible home invasion and shooting on Penny Lane in East Bend.
When they arrived, residents told deputies that a man had forced his way into the home, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and one of the residents.
Deputies later found the suspect in a vehicle on a nearby street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities said none of the residents sustained serious injuries. The Sheriff’s Office described the incident as isolatedand said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation is ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed.
