
VIRGINIA — A 53-year-old Richmond man is facing multiple charges after a man was found with several stab wounds in a Chesterfield parking lot early Tuesday morning.
According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:48 a.m. in the 15700 block of Woods Edge Road. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as John G. Watkins, allegedly stabbed the victim, stole his vehicle, and then crashed into another vehicle before fleeing the scene. No one was injured in the crash.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said Watkins and the victim knew each other.
During the incident, Watkins also reportedly brandished a firearm. He was taken into custody around 8 a.m. and charged with malicious wounding, carjacking, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, brandishing, and hit-and-run.
Watkins is being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
