
VIRGINIA — A juvenile was injured in a shooting Tuesday night in Newport News, according to police.
Officers were called around 9:30 p.m. to the 11700 block of Jefferson Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When police arrived, they found a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Police arrested 50-year-old Jerome Curtis Bailey in connection with the incident. Investigators say Bailey is known to the victim.
Bailey is facing the following charges:
- Abuse/neglect
- Reckless handling of a firearm
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
