GEORGIA — Police have arrested a suspect following a shooting near a Kroger store in southwest Atlanta.
The incident occurred at 2685 Metropolitan Parkway in the Perkerson neighborhood, near Cleveland Avenue and Interstate 85. Forest Park Police said the shooting involved an armed robbery suspect who has since been taken into custody.
A portion of Metropolitan Parkway was temporarily closed during the investigation, though authorities say the area is reopening. Crime scene tape remained around the store entrance, and an armored truck at the location is part of the ongoing investigation.
The FBI, along with the Atlanta and Forest Park police departments, responded to the scene. The condition of the victim has not been released.
Kroger released a statement saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim, as well as the victim’s family and friends. The safety and security of our customers and associates remain our top priority. We are deeply grateful to local authorities for their swift response, and will continue to refer all questions to them as they lead this investigation.”
The investigation is ongoing.
