VIRGINIA — One person was hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 early Saturday morning, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Dec. 13 on I-64 westbound near the Mechanicsville Turnpike exit. State police said the vehicle left the roadway, overturned into the median, and caught fire.
As a result of the crash, both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 64 were temporarily closed while emergency crews responded and worked to clear the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Virginia State Police said the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact state police.
