
OHIO — A driver was hospitalized early Monday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a tree in Champaign County.
The crash happened around 4:37 a.m. near Millerstown Road at State Route 29 in the Urbana area, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responding to the scene found a pickup truck that had traveled off the roadway and struck a tree, causing heavy damage to the vehicle.
Authorities said the driver suffered a head injury and had to be extricated from the truck. Fire and EMS crews responded to the crash, and the driver was transported to Mercy Health–Urbana Hospital for treatment. CareFlight was placed on standby during the incident.
The roadway near Zimmerman Road was temporarily closed while emergency crews and a tow service worked at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.
