VIRGINIA — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man injured early Friday morning in Halifax County.
According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, the Halifax County E911 Center received two calls shortly after midnight reporting a man with a gunshot wound outside a home on Thornton Road.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 12:19 a.m. and found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. North Halifax EMS also responded, and the man was airlifted to a hospital after the area was secured.
Officials said the victim is currently in stable condition.
Investigators believe the shooting may have occurred along the highway in the 18000 block of LP Bailey Memorial Highway. Authorities noted the incident appears to be isolated.
