SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was injured and another was detained following a shooting Friday evening in Myrtle Beach, according to police.

Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded around 5:38 p.m. to the parking lot of a Publix located at 7925 North Kings Highway in reference to a reported shooting.

Authorities said one person was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police also confirmed that one individual has been detained in connection with the incident.

Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the community, though residents may notice an increased law enforcement presence in the area.
