
OHIO — A man is recovering at St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot in the hip Monday evening on the West Side, police said.
Officers were initially called around 7:35 p.m. to Tyrell Avenue for reports of gunfire. While en route, they were informed that a woman had called 911 saying her son was on Riblett Road with a gunshot wound. Some officers responded there.
The victim told police he had been standing on Tyrell Avenue when three men approached and tried to rob him of marijuana. He said he began running when he heard gunfire and felt pain in his hip.
An ambulance transported him to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Police reported seeing a shallow entry wound in his hip.
At the shooting scene, officers recovered seven shell casings and found a nearby window damaged by gunfire. The investigation is ongoing.
