
MICHIGAN — A man is in critical condition following a shooting early Saturday morning in Battle Creek, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.
Police said officers were called around 6 a.m. to the first block of Hancock Court after a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 60-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
First responders provided emergency care at the scene before the victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred inside a residence. Police said the resident of the home called 911, and officers determined the victim, who lives in the area, had been visiting the home at the time of the shooting. Neighbors reported hearing a single gunshot shortly before the victim said he had been shot.
Police said they believe the incident was isolated and that there is no threat to the public. The shooting remains under investigation.
