FLORIDA — One person was injured and another has been arrested following a shooting early Sunday morning at a birthday party in Broward County, according to police.
The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. outside the Five Stars Banquet Hall on West Oakland Park Boulevard in Sunrise. Authorities said the incident happened during a birthday celebration attended by approximately 150 people.
Police reported that a person using a wheelchair was shot outside the venue. The victim’s condition has not been released.
Officers with the Sunrise Police Department took a suspect into custody. Details about the suspect and potential charges have not yet been made public.
Witnesses told investigators they heard multiple gunshots during the incident. Some partygoers were temporarily unable to leave the area as their vehicles were within the secured crime scene.
The shopping plaza where the banquet hall is located has since reopened.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to be released as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
