OHIO — A shooting at the Dayton Mall on Miamisburg-Centerville Road prompted a large police response Sunday afternoon.
Authorities were called to the mall at 3:08 p.m. after initial reports of an active shooter. However, upon arrival, officers determined the incident was isolated.
According to the Miami Township Police Department, the shooting occurred near the Buckle storefront when a juvenile mishandled a firearm, causing it to discharge.
The juvenile was struck in the abdomen.
Police and EMS crews from multiple jurisdictions responded to the scene, but many began to clear shortly after their arrival.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have confirmed there is no active threat to the public.
Further details about the condition of the juvenile have not been released.
