One person injured following road rage shooting incident in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Police are investigating a road rage shooting that left one person injured Friday morning along Interstate 885 in Durham.

According to police, a 911 call was received just before 11 a.m. reporting that a person had been shot in the arm while traveling on I-885 North near the U.S. Highway 70 exit. Police radio traffic indicated the victim told officers the shooting occurred about 15 minutes earlier.

The victim reported that the shot was fired by an occupant of a large black SUV. The injured person was transported to a hospital, where they were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police did not release the victim’s name.

Officers with the Durham Police Department searched the area, including a dark-colored SUV, the highway shoulder, and nearby brush. The roadway remained open to traffic during the investigation.

Police were still looking for the person who fired the gun.
