CLEVELAND — A Monday evening shooting involving two Cleveland police officers and a Crime Gun Intelligence Center officer left one person injured near Denison Avenue.
According to Cleveland Police Chief Annie Todd, the incident unfolded around 6:20 p.m. as officers patrolled the area near W. 31st Street and Denison Avenue, searching for an individual suspected of multiple violent crimes across the city.
While conducting surveillance, officers located the suspect, who was accompanied by several other individuals.
Police reported that as the officers approached, the group opened fire, prompting officers to return fire.
One individual was struck during the exchange.
Multiple firearms were found at the scene, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
