VIRGINIA — A head-on collision on Old Stage Road sent one person to the hospital Monday afternoon as Virginia dealt with its second snowstorm of the season.

Prince George County Fire and EMS crews were called to the 10000 block of Old Stage Road at about 2 p.m. on December 8 for reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Emergency responders found a sedan and a pickup truck had collided, leaving both vehicles off the roadway. Photos from the scene showed the pickup truck’s front end pushed into a snow-covered tree line, while the sedan also came to rest off the road. One person involved in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials did not release the extent of their injuries.

Since noon Monday, first responders in Prince George County have handled multiple accidents caused by worsening weather and icy roads. Fire officials urged drivers to avoid traveling if possible.

“Staying off the roads when possible and driving with extra care when you must be out helps reduce crashes and keeps first responders available for other emergencies,” officials said in a statement.
