OHIO — A car crashed through the front of a Walmart store Saturday afternoon in Medina after the driver suffered a medical emergency, according to police.

The Medina Township Police Department said first responders were called to the Walmart located at 4141 Pearl Road around 4:37 p.m. on March 28 for reports of a crash.

Investigators said a 44-year-old man was driving in the parking lot when he experienced a medical emergency. His vehicle struck a bollard, became airborne, and crashed through the front window of the store, coming to rest partially inside the vestibule area where shopping carts are kept.

Authorities said the driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

No customers or employees inside the store were injured, police said. However, the crash caused significant damage to the building.

The incident remains under investigation.
