One person injured after train strikes vehicle in Ohio

OHIO — One person was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a crash involving a train and a pickup truck in Hilliard, according to local police.

The collision occurred just after 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest Parkway and Leap Road.

Photos posted by the Norwich Township Fire Department show a black Chevrolet Silverado with significant damage at the scene.

Hilliard Police Sgt. Suzanne Muraco confirmed that a male occupant, the only person in the vehicle, was transported to Grant Medical Center. His condition was reported as stable.

Due to the crash, Northwest Parkway and Leap Road are expected to remain closed for some time.

Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area, particularly near the railroad crossing and Davidson Road, while the investigation continues.
