SOUTH CAROLINA — A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital Thursday morning after colliding with a Pickens County school bus, authorities said.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Highway 8 at Hideaway Court, near the intersection of Mauldin Road.
The School District of Pickens County said Easley Bus 26, carrying 38 students to Gettys Middle School and Easley High School, was slowing to pick up a student when a motorcycle struck the back of the bus.
No students or the bus driver were injured. The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was taken by Life Flight and is in stable condition with multiple broken bones, police said.
Parents and guardians of the students were notified, and another bus arrived to transport them to school.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
