
NORTH CAROLINA — A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter, according to the Monroe Police Department.
Police said the crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on Secrest Short Cut Road as the teen was heading home from a nearby shopping center.
Because of the severity of his injuries, the teen was flown to Atrium Health Main in Charlotte, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities said no charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
