OHIO — A 9-year-old girl was hospitalized Friday afternoon after being struck by a car on Northcrest Drive, according to a crash report from the Dayton Police Department.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Northcrest Drive.
A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was traveling south at an “excessive rate of speed” when the driver struck the girl as she walked into the roadway.
The report states the driver did not stop or properly identify themselves at the scene.
Authorities later identified the driver as a 44-year-old Dayton man. No citations were issued at the time of the report.
The exact speed of the vehicle and additional details about the girl’s condition have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
