MICHIGAN — A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by an SUV while crossing a street in Jamestown Township, authorities said.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Greenly Street near Jamesfield Drive. Deputies said the girl did not see a westbound Ford Explorer before it struck her. The SUV was driven by a 35-year-old woman, who was not injured in the crash.

The girl suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Life EMS to a hospital in Grand Rapids.

The sheriff’s office closed Greenly Street between 32nd Avenue and Jamesfield Drive until approximately 5 p.m. while authorities responded to the scene.
