GEORGIA — A South Paulding High School student was seriously injured Wednesday morning after being struck by a car off campus.
The incident occurred on Winn Road in front of Dugan Elementary School. School officials and the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no crossing guard was present at the time.
South Paulding High principal Ed Thomas informed parents in a letter that the student was hospitalized and receiving treatment. The sheriff’s office said the student was taken to an Atlanta-area hospital in critical condition.
Counselors were made available to students and staff Wednesday and Thursday. Principal Thomas said he will provide updates if there are further developments.
