ALABAMA — A pedestrian was injured Sunday evening while attempting to remove debris from a roadway, authorities said.
The Section Volunteer Fire Department and Scottsboro Police Department responded to a report of debris on AL Highway 35 along the side of a mountain. Upon arrival, responders found a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle while trying to clear the roadway.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Huntsville Hospital by Highlands EMS. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
The Section Volunteer Fire Department advised the public to avoid removing debris themselves unless properly equipped, saying, “Debris in the roadway is an inconvenience. Please, if you are not equipped with the proper lighting and equipment, stay in your vehicle and wait until emergency personnel arrive to remove the debris.”
