
SOUTH CAROLINA — A 96-year-old woman in Greenwood County died from hypothermia after being found outside her home early Monday morning, according to county officials.
Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox said the woman, who suffered from dementia, was found unresponsive outside her residence on Swing About at approximately 12:50 a.m. Monday.
The coroner ruled the cause of death as hypothermia with dementia listed as a contributing condition. The death has been classified as accidental.
The woman’s name is being withheld at this time. Her age was confirmed by the South Carolina Department of Public Health.
Authorities did not release additional details surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
