NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities in Bladen County are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a car stuck in the mud, with an unharmed 2-year-old child in the back seat.
Deputies from the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a disturbance in Clarkton on Friday.
At the scene, they found a vehicle that had been reported missing the night before.
Inside the car, deputies discovered 35-year-old Ashanta Hill unresponsive in the driver’s seat. Also in the vehicle were Cedric Williamson and a 2-year-old child, who was found safe and unharmed.
According to officials, the car appeared to be stuck in the mud. Williamson, who deputies said appeared intoxicated, was reportedly assaulted by family members at the scene before law enforcement arrived.
