SOUTH CAROLINA — Greenville police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman found inside a residence in the Moyewood community on Saturday evening.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers responded around 7:14 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2025, to a request for a welfare check at a home on West Third Street. With assistance from housing staff, officers entered the residence and found a woman unresponsive inside.
The woman was identified as 76-year-old Dessie Mae Williams. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said evidence found inside the home raised immediate concerns, leading investigators to classify the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death as suspicious. The official cause and manner of death will be determined following an autopsy.
Detectives said they are actively following up on strong leads as the investigation continues.
