NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities in Edgecombe County are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in a wooded area near Conetoe.
According to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, workers discovered the man’s body Tuesday morning in the woods. Deputies later identified the victim as Kenneth Wooten, a native of Pinetops.
Investigators have classified the death as a homicide, though officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the case.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have seen Wooten or knows about his whereabouts over the past two days to contact investigators. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office at 252-801-3181.
The investigation remains ongoing.
