TEXAS — The body of a 20-year-old man was discovered Wednesday morning in Lake Fort Phantom, according to the Abilene Police Department.
Authorities said officers were called to the lake around 11:30 a.m. after a man fishing in the area reported seeing what appeared to be a body floating face down in the water.
Police confirmed the body was that of a 20-year-old man from Abilene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
An Abilene police spokesperson said there were no obvious signs of injury at the scene, and investigators have not determined the cause of death.
Officials said it is unclear at this time whether foul play is involved. An autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine how long the man had been in the water and what led to his death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
