
FLORIDA — Tampa police are investigating after a man was found dead Friday afternoon in downtown Tampa, with a person of interest now in custody.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly before 4 p.m. to the 800 block of East Zack Street following a report of an unresponsive individual.
When officers arrived, they located an adult man who had sustained injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives have since detained one individual for questioning. Police said the person is considered a person of interest as investigators work to determine their involvement and the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The area remained an active crime scene for several hours as homicide detectives conducted their initial investigation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim or the individual being questioned.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
