PENNSYLVANIA — A crash in Berks County left one person dead and two others injured Thursday evening, according to State Police in Reading.
The incident occurred around 6:29 p.m. on May 15 along Skyline Drive in Alsace Township.
Police said a 2006 Ford Escape, driven by a 19-year-old male, was traveling northbound when the driver attempted to drift around a right-hand curve.
The vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree, and sustained major damage to the front and driver’s side.
The 19-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers were also injured in the crash. A 16-year-old female in the backseat suffered major injuries and had to be extricated by mechanical means.
A 22-year-old male passenger sustained suspected minor injuries. Both were transported to Reading Hospital by emergency medical services.
The crash remains under investigation.
