OHIO — A single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Knox County left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Troopers responded to the scene on state Route 229 around 4:30 a.m. after a 2013 Ford Focus veered off the road, striking a utility pole.
Investigators said the driver was heading westbound when they failed to navigate a curve.
One passenger, Tyler Schlairet, 34, of Howard, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and another passenger were transported to Knox Community Hospital before being transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
OSHP said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, and none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts. The incident remains under investigation.
