VIRGINIA — A 27-year-old Richmond woman was killed early Sunday morning after her vehicle overturned during a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Henrico County.
Virginia State Police responded to the scene at 4:54 a.m. near mile marker 196, just past the Airport Drive exit on I-64 westbound.
According to investigators, a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C250 was sideswiped in the right rear by a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox.
The impact caused the Mercedes to overturn and come to rest on its roof in the middle lane.
The driver of the Mercedes, identified as 27-year-old Tameecha F. Chambliss of Richmond, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the Mercedes, 27-year-old Alexandria Telisha Gamble, also of Richmond, was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 46-year-old Miguel Andres Munive Rangel of Doswell, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. Westbound lanes of I-64 were closed for several hours as the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team worked at the scene.
