OHIO — A woman is dead and two others were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on I-75 South in Miami County.
Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers responded shortly after midnight to the southbound lanes of I-75 beyond State Route 571 following reports of a serious crash.
According to a preliminary investigation, 26-year-old Andrew Romero of Moraine was driving a Ford southbound when he slowed for traffic due to an earlier crash in the area.
Behind him, 28-year-old Jennifer Korleski of Tipp City failed to maintain a safe distance and struck the rear of Romero’s vehicle.
The impact caused Romero’s vehicle to overturn and veer off the right side of the road, coming to rest on its side. Korleski’s vehicle became disabled in the left lane, where it was then struck by a Jeep.
Romero and the driver of the Jeep were taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions were not immediately released. Korleski was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash involving the Jeep is being investigated separately, OSHP said. I-75 South was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened.
