One person dead, two injured following vehicle crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — One person is dead and two others are seriously injured after a head-on collision early Sunday morning in Darlington County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 20 near mile marker 138.

Troopers say a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling west crossed the median and collided head-on with a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe heading east.

The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene, while a passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe was also seriously hurt and taken to the hospital.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the person who died. The crash is still under investigation.
