One person dead, three injured following vehicle crash in Ohio

OHIO — One person was killed and three others were injured in a four-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Batavia Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 6:18 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 32 and Olive Branch-Stonelick Road.

Investigators said a Ford Ranger driven by Scott Temple, 63, of Batavia, was traveling west on Route 32 when it went off the left side of the road, crossed the median, and entered the eastbound lanes. The Ranger was then struck by a Chevrolet Silverado, triggering a chain reaction that involved two additional vehicles.

Temple sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Three other people were also hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to OSP.

State Route 32 was closed for nearly four hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
