INDIANA — A two-car crash in Indiana claimed one life and sent several others to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of South US Highway 27 and State Route 122.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, a black Chevrolet traveling southbound on US 27 collided with a red Dodge that failed to stop at a stop sign while heading westbound on State Route 122.
The Chevrolet struck the Dodge on the passenger side, causing significant damage to both vehicles before they came to rest in a nearby field.
The driver of the Chevrolet sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital.
His passenger, identified as 60-year-old Nannie Byrd, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two juveniles in the Dodge suffered minor injuries and were transported to Reid Health for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
