
OHIO — A block party on the city’s East Side turned violent early Monday when gunfire broke out, leaving one person dead and five others injured, according to Cleveland Police.
The shooting occurred around midnight in the 5900 block of Luther Avenue.
Police said a verbal altercation involving several people escalated into a shooting.
A 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
Three other victims — a 32-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and a 27-year-old woman — were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
No information has been released about the conditions of the other two victims at this time.
Authorities also reported that a dog was shot and killed during the incident.
Police said the party was held without a city permit. The investigation is ongoing.
