NORTH CAROLINA — One teenager was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting at an apartment complex in Gaston County Wednesday night, according to police.
The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. at the Fairhaven Place apartments on Hine Way, near East Hudson Boulevard.
Gastonia police said 19-year-old Izaiyah Wilson died as a result of the shooting. An 18-year-old victim was also shot and remains in critical condition.
A police report also listed a 37-year-old woman as a victim, though authorities have not clarified her involvement.
A large law enforcement presence responded to the scene, including officers with the Gastonia Police Department and the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators were seen focusing on a third-floor area of the apartment building.
Police said detectives are following leads as they work to identify a suspect. It remains unclear what led up to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
