GEORGIA — One man was killed and another critically injured in a shooting early Saturday morning outside a DeKalb County strip club, according to Clarkston police.
The shooting happened shortly before 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of Brockett Road, in a shopping center that includes the adult club Strokers. Officers arriving at the scene found 31-year-old Gary Matthews of Lithonia dead from gunshot wounds.
Matthews’s stepfather told Atlanta News First that Matthews had been celebrating his birthday at the club that night.
Police said Matthews was one of four people sitting in a car outside Strokers when two suspects got out of a Jeep and began shooting. Officers briefly pursued the suspects’ vehicle but lost sight of it. The Jeep was later found abandoned.
A second man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.
At the scene, investigators found shell casings on the ground and a white BMW with its windshield riddled with bullet holes.
Police are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Feltman at 678-431-1472 or email gfeltman@cityofclarkston.com.
