
WEST VIRGINIA — One person is dead and a driver has been charged following a crash Tuesday night in Fayette County, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jess McMullen said the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 60 in Glen Ferris.
Investigators said Tonya Hedrick pulled her vehicle from the Glen Ferris Loop into the path of an oncoming vehicle, causing a collision. A passenger in Hedrick’s vehicle died as a result of the crash.
Authorities said Hedrick has been charged with DUI causing death.
According to officials, Hedrick was observed with a white powdery substance in her nostril while receiving medical treatment. She was later interviewed, given field sobriety tests and a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample.
Officials said occupants of the other vehicle were injured, though their conditions have not been released.
The victim’s identity has not been made public.
The investigation remains ongoing.
